To comply with the quality of your clothing, most models have features such as anti-crease system or cycle end cooling system. You want to purchase a dryer but do not know what to choose among the many existing models on the market? This article gives you some tips to make the right choice.
A - The tumble dryer models
Most dryers are front (with window), which allows to check the drying level. Their standard size is 60 inches wide. They can accommodate capacity up to 10 kg of laundry. There are several ways to position them: either 'freestanding', 'inserts' or 'stackable'. The freestanding dryer can be installed anywhere in your kitchen or bathroom, but can easily fit under a worktop. However, if you do not have much space, the easiest will be to superimpose over your washing machine.
However, there are models of 45 cm, ideal for small floor areas. These open and load from the top, but their capacities are lower. The dryer location is essential to determine your choice: will you use the pipe (vented models) or the drip tray (condensing models)?
B - The tumble dryer types
* Condensation: this model requires no special installation. The air is transformed into water vapor and collected in a container. After each drying, empty carefully the low recovery. The condenser should be cleaned once a month under running water with a shower. If your dryer has electronic sensors, it is advisable to continue using softening products for washing. They may clog the electronic sensors that are in the drum.
* Draining: this model requires a hose plugged into a vent (or window) in which the air travels down the outer pipe. Before putting the appliance, check that the drain hose is not kinked or clogged. Vent pipe outside hood must open and close freely.
* Combined washer dryer: this model combines washing and drying in one unit, which saves considerable space for small spaces. The only disadvantage of this model is its capacity to drying. This corresponds to only half capacity of laundry.
It is essential to install the unit in a ventilated room because the air in it is drawn. Constant renewal is necessary.
C - The energy consumption of dryer machine
The devices are classified according to their energy consumption (electricity and water) on an alphabetical scale from A to G. Dryer Class A is more ecological and economical than model of a category B and so on. Class G models are very greedy in electricity. Lines A, B , C are quite expensive but your initial investment is quickly recouped through energy savings.
Most models are powered by electricity, though there are models that use gas. The natural gas dryer are, in effect, an alternative to the electric dryer. They wick moisture outwards, consume 10 times less electricity and reduce 60% energy bills (electricity + gas). They dry linen at a speed greater than 40 % compared to a conventional electric dryer.
Increasingly models provide an electronic programming system, the drying time is thus determined depending on the amount and humidity of your laundry. You can also mostly adapt your programming (drying temperature and time) according to your type of laundry.
D - Dryer machine features
* Delayed start: this option allows you to program your dryer during off-peak hours, so the consumption of electricity will be cheaper.
* Anti-crease system: once drying completed, the linen is pumped up and gets a soft appearance by eliminating wrinkles. So the cycle lasts a few minutes.
* Cooling end of cycle: to prevent the fibers of your clothes do get damaged, the dryer uses a system of gradual cooling.
* Cool cycle: it eliminates odors and makes your linen soft.
* Blocking the door: the door can not be opened if the drum has not stopped yet.
