Practice Sport: a minimum of precautions

Do not engage in a sport without a minimum of precautions, due to the significant risks that you incur if you have not practiced any physical activity for long time.

The resumption of sport

After a long period of interruption, it is in the moment of resumption of physical activity that arise the most significant risks to the cardiovascular and muscular level. Without preparation, your heart, muscles and tendons suffer unnecessarily.

Patience and perseverance

You quickly see the benefits of sport, on your body and your mind. But it will take a few months to see an improvement in your performance. It is unnecessary, illusory and even dangerous to imagine that you run 20 kilometers at a steady pace with only fifteen days of preparation: neither your heart or your lungs or your legs will support such an effort. However, if you run regularly for one or two years, you will make this distance effortlessly.

Spontaneously, the animals perform a physical effort to find food, escape or play. This is always a brief effort, sometimes intense. The man on the contrary, has established himself throughout his history long endurance events, the marathon is a modern example: the choice is unique to the man, and only adult man. Children generally prefer team sports, where the dimension of play is important. It is only by growing he will be more interested in more individual sports such as athletics, cross country running, or swimming, sports that require a lot of willpower to gain the necessary endurance.

During his history of tens of thousands of years, the man has learned to flee, fish, hunt, fight, look for more hospitable horizons, which has always required an intense physical activity. It is only in the last 200 years that the industrial revolution has imposed a more sedentary and more secure way of life which we begin to measure the negative effects.
